McHenry County Statistics

The average farm size in 2007 was 1167 acres with 928 farms.  The average net income was $63,451.  Wheat, barley, sunflower seeds, canola, soybeans, dry edible peas & forage, top live stock cattle, bee colonies, horses, hogs, bison, elk & layers are raised in McHenry County.  Pictured is the Kevin & Debbie Reinowski farm  3 miles north of Anamoose.

There are only 2.9 people per square mile.  Our population decreased 9.2% from 2000 to 2010, but is projected to increase by 4.43% by 2025.  Our population in 2011 was 5,505.  There are 13 cities in McHenry County with 2,515 households.

The largest employment industry in 2012 was education services, health care, & social assistance.   The second largest industry was agriculture, forestry, fishing & hunting.

In 2011 our high school graduation or higher was 85.5%.  Our unemployment rate was the lowest in the US with 4.8%.  The median household income was $41,989 in 2011.
