Welcoming the Hoke family

pam-and-ron-4I visited yesterday with a very friendly couple, Ron and Pam Hoke, who bought Jerry and Barbara Helm’s house.  They moved here November 6th from 50 miles south of Pittsburg, PA.  They just retired in October.  Ron has been an asphalt and stone truck driver for 15 years.  Prior to that time he worked for Lenox Crystal Glass plant till it closed in 2001.  Ron had a skilled position as a “stem puller”.  Pam showed me the type of stemmed glassware Ron had made with special tools.

Pam was an accountant at GE.  She had also worked for Lenox Crystal -mainly in purchasing.

When I asked why they came to Anamoose I was not surprised to hear their answer “Because of the kids” and to hear them talk of their grandson Dylan (Heath and Theresa’s son), who live in Anamoose.  Ron remarked “We might make the Guinness World Records-everyone retiring goes south to stay warm”.  At below 0 temps yesterday it was anything but warm here.

Besides Health, Ron and Pam have an older son Brian and his 12 year old son, Zander, in Pennsylvania.

Ron and Pam are dog lovers and they have their third black lab 2 1/2 year old  Katie.  “She’s the queen”.

Pam likes to bake, do “crafty things” and tole painting (painting on wood).  Ron loves to hunt deer and probably will also hunt ring necks and geese next year.  He may even have to  learn to fish with Heath.

So glad you saw them! How did our house look? Are you keeping warm?
